Chandigarh stalking case: Police arrest Vikas Barala; to press abduction charges against him

In the high-profile stalking case of a girl, the DGP of Chandigarh, informed on Wednesday that detailed interrogation of both Ashish and Vikas took place and two charges to be pressed against them.

“Attempt of abduction, two sections 365 and 511. Have decided to arrest both accused, will be produced before court on Thursday,” said DGP Chandigarh.

DGP said that there is no political pressure on them and they are doing everything professionally and objectively.

Earlier in the day, the Chandigarh police arrested Haryana BJP president Subhash Barala’s son Vikas Barala (23) and his friend Ashish (27) in connection with stalking case.

The police arrested him under non-bailable sections while inflicting section of attempt of abduction. Vikas appeared before police at secor-26 police station. The police had already made heavy security arrangements at the police station.

Chandigarh DGP, said everything under the sun and effort will be done to ensure justice.

The DGP said, "Vikas Barala refused to accept the notice, therefore, we have pasted the notice on the wall of his residence.”

On the other hand, Haryana BJP president Subhash Barala said that Vikas will cooperate the police in the investigation and urged the opposition parties not to play politics in the matter.
