On the way to the Badrinath temple in Uttarakhand on Friday, many pilgrims were stranded due to landslide as a key road in Chamoli ditrict of Uttarakhand was blocked by a huge rock that rolled down the hills, according to officials.

In the Himalayan state, landslides and flashfloods are common. In the year 2013, 5000 people were killed due to heavy rains and a surge was triggered in Kedarnath valley. Even some of the bodies were not found at that time.

Uttarakhand is a seismically sensitive zone. So people planning a Chardham yaatra should take some precautionary steps which include:

Pilgrims should carry a proper kit that can save them in case of earthquake or any natural calamity.

Pilgrims should make sure that they have gone through a proper medical check-up before going to the 'Kedarnath yatra'.

In case, pilgrims face an natural calamity, they should keep calm and should find out better ways to comke out of the situation with the help of local contacts.
