New Delhi:

Senior journalist Vinod Verma has been sent to judicial custody till November 13 after his police remand ended on Tuesday.

Verma, who has been sent to police custody till October 31 by a Chhattisgarh local court in Raipur on Sunday, was presented before the court of Justice Bhavesh Bhatti by Raipur Police on Tuesday amid tight security.

Since the police did not ask for an extended remand, the court sent Verma to judicial custody.

Verma was arrested by Chhattisgarh Police from his residence in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad district on the charges of an extortion case filed in Chhattisgarh's Raipur.

He defended his position saying that he was being framed as he was in the possession of a controversial CD of Chhattisgarh Minister Rajesh Munat.
