New Delhi:

Chhattisgarh Police has arrested a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable and identified another jawan in connection with the alleged molestation of three girl students of a state-run residential school during a Raksha Bandhan program organised by the central force in Dantewada district of the state on Wednesday.

Dantewada Superintendent of Police (SP) Kamlochan Kashyap told the media that the two CRPF troopers were identified last evening by the victims based on the photographs of the event.

The arrested has been identified as Shamim Ahmed, a constable of CRPF’s 231 battalion.

“The arrested constable will be produced in the local court,” the SP added.

The SP told the media that a police team has been sent to nab the second accused CRPF personnel. “The CRPF constable is on leave since August 3,” the SP said.

Three students of a girls residential school at Palnar village under Kuakonda Police station jurisdiction early this month had alleged that CRPF troopers physically searched them in the pretext of frisking.

The Dantewada administration to probe the incident had formed a five-member team to probe the incident. Meanwhile, the district police and CRPF were parallely investigating the matter to nab the culprits.

The state police earlier had lodged an FIR under Protection of Children and Sexual Offences (POSCO).

The paramilitary force, deployed to counter Left-Wing Extremism in the area, has been organising such events in Palnar since some years.
