AAP leaders on Friday accused the Delhi Police of acting like a bully by searching the Chief Minister’s residence for more than two hours. Party members claimed that the sleuths “did not question them on CCTV but inquired about the painting.”
The Delhi Government spokesperson claimed that around “60-70 policemen” searched the chief minister’s residence.
AAP party leader Ashutosh said, “The Delhi Police visit to chief minister’s residence was only to humiliate and insult him (Arvind Kejriwal.”
He further claimed, “The Delhi Police did not ask questions on CCTV footages but were asking about the painting of the residence. They are responsible for the CCTV cameras in CM’s house and not Arvind Kejriwal.”
However, a senior officer of Delhi Police claimed that they went to the chief minister’s residence after several requests for CCTV footage was turned down. “The request for the CCTV footage was made to examine for clues what happened on Monday night at the meeting in which Chief Secretary Anshi Prakash was attacked by two lawmakers,” said the officer.
“We have seized hard drives of 21 CCTV cameras and found that seven of them were non-functional and no CCTV was placed in the room were the incident took place,” he added.
The Delhi chief secretary has alleged that he was slapped by AAP lawmakers in presence of Kejriwal. Police have arrested AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal and Amantullah Khan in the connection to the incident.
Soon after the search operation the Delhi chief minister tweeted, “To investigate two slaps, the police search a Chief Minister's house. Doesn't Judge Loya's murder merit an interrogation?."
While talking to reporters he said, “The police show the same dedication in questioning Amit Shah in the Judge Loya case, the country will appreciate them.”
