New Delhi:
Two Delhi youths used the Darknet and online currency bitcoins to run drugs syndicate in the National Capital Region until they were busted by the police.
The fact came to surface after Delhi Police arrested two persons identified as Kamal Kalra, a resident of Rohini and Mahesh Goyal, a resident of Dwarka were arrested.
Delhi Police said that the two were supplying contraband drugs including LSD, MDMA, MDA, Ketamine, Methamphetamine, and amphetamine to largely to rave parties and in-house parties.
The Delhi Police officers added that the whole syndicate worked on the Darknet. “There was never a physical contact between the supplier and buyer. They contacted each other via Darknet network.”
The Delhi Police on intelligence inputs had arrested Karla. Police had recovered around 100 ills of Ecstasy (MDMA), a psychotropic substance. On his tip off police arrested Goyal.
Delhi Police on interrogating the duo learnt that the duo had never met each other in person but successfully managed to run the syndicate on the darknet. They made the payments through bitcoins.
Additional Commissioner of Police (crime) Alok Kumar said, “Goyal and Karla used to the ordered the drugs online using the darknet. Every consignment payment was made through Bitcoins. The duo made their buyers make payments through Bitcoins and once the coins were transferred to their account they would deliver the contraband at the doorsteps.”
