New Delhi:

Congress Vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday used the lines of song-writer Shahryar to explain the current air pollution situation in Delhi. He raised the issue of inaction by the government through the song.

"सीने में जलन, आँखों में तूफ़ान सा क्यों है इस शहर में हर शख़्स परेशान सा क्यों है? क्या बताएँगे साहेब, सब जानकर अंजान क्यों हैं?," tweeted Rahul quoting a song.

Rahul questioned why there is inflammation in chest and storm in the eyes. He asks why everyone is troubled in the city. He then questioned the indifference of the authorities over the issue.

The national capital has been experiencing dense smog for the past a few days, forcing authorities to enforce emergency measures such as banning construction activities and brick kilns due to worsening air pollution.

The “odd-even” rationing of cars, which was scheduled to begin on Monday, was however deferred by the Delhi government after the National Green Tribunal ordered the withdrawal of exemptions given to women and two-wheelers under the scheme.
