New Delhi:

Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Singh who was sentenced to 20 years in jail for raping two women, has challenged the Panchkula CBI Court order in Punjab & Haryana High Court.

Dera chief, who is currently serving his sentence in Rohtak’s Sunaria Jail, has filed a plea in the high court against the CBI court order.

The special SBI court in Haryana’s Panchkula on August 25 had convicted Gurmeet Singh in a 15-year-old rape case.

Following his conviction, massive violence erupted in Haryana and its neighbouring states of Delhi, Punjab, UP and Rajasthan.

Supporters of Dera chief rampaged through the towns of Haryana damaging public property, setting railway stations on fire and pelting stones on Police.

As much as 40 people killed in the violence by Dera supporters and over 200 were injured, most in Panchkula where Gurmeet Singh was convicted by the CBI court.
