An advance light helicopter (AHL) of the Army crashed on Tuesday afternoon in Jammu and Kashmir's eastern Ladakh. All the crew members are safe.

14 Corps Commander Lt Gen SK Upadhyay and General officer commanding 3 Division Savneet Singh were onboard on the Dhruv aircraft. Both pilots onboard the helicopter are safe though some of the officers onboard the chopper have sustained minor injuries.

The Army and Air forces rely heavily on the Dhruv helicopter which is capable of operating at extreme altitudes in the Siachen and the Ladakh region. The Dhruv Helicopter is a utility helicopter developed and manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

However, a court of inquiry has been ordered into the Advanced light helicopter crash incident.
