Dussehra (Vijayadashami) is a Hindu festival celebrated at the end of Navratri every year. The festival marks the victory of good over evil and it is always celebrated on the tenth day of the month 'Ashwin' of the Hindu calendar.

On the Dusshera, enormous statues of Ravana along with his brother Meghanada and Kumbakaran are burnt in open ground which signifies the Ram’s victory over the Ravana. The celebration of Dusshera also involves organizing the Ramlila performance which involves people enacting the life and glory of Lord Rama.

Muhurat of Dussehra Puja

Dussehra will celebrate till 1st October 2017.

The Dashami Tithi will begin from 11:49 pm on 29th September 2017 and it will end at 1:35 am on 1st October.

The timings of Aparahna Puja starts at 1:21 pm on 29th September 2017 and it will last till 3:42 pm.  

Items needed for Dussehra puja

To perform the Dussehra puja, you need a image of Dussehra, cow dung (chuna), Roli, moli, chawal, flowers, Jhuwara which is grown on Navratri day, Banana, mooli (radish), gwarphalli (flat cluster beans), Jaggery, 1-1/4 kg chawal, money for offering, kheer, puri, Bahikhata (account books).
