Jaitley was re-elected as an MP from Uttar Pradesh in recent Rajya Sabha elections but could not take part in the oath-taking ceremony due to illness.
The finance minister was suffering from a kidney disease and was being advised by the doctors to stay indoors and avoid going out in public for fear of infection.
On April 7, he was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and underwent kidney dialysis for three days.
The finance minister is scheduled to undergo a kidney transplant operation at the hospital’s Cardio-Neuro Tower. He has already completed official formalities with the donor for the kidney transplant.
The transplant would be carried out by Sandeep Guleria, a specialist from Apollo Hospitals and brother of AIIMS Director Randeep Guleria.
