Fire breaks out in Bengaluru's Kailash bar restaurant, leaves 5 dead

A fire broke out in Kailash bar restaurant in Bengaluru’s Kalasipalya area at 2:30 am on Monday leaving five people dead.

The bar is situated on the ground floor of Kumbaara Sangha building in Kalasipalya. On seeing the building engulfed in smoke and fire, some people were quick to inform the fire services. Two fire tender trucks and one fire rescue vehicle immediately attended the spot and put off the fire.

The five people who died were the workers or employees who were sleeping inside the restaurant. The deceased have been identified as Swami, Prasad, Manjunath, Keerthi and Mahesh.

Three of them, Swami, Prasad and Mahesh were natives of Tumkur, Manjunath was a native of Hassan and Keerthi was a native of Mandya.

Speaking on the incident, a senior police officer said, "An incident of fire has occurred at Kailash Bar and Restaurant located in the ground floor of Kumbaara sangha building (in the vegetable market area). Fire and smoke was noticed by some persons at around 2.30 AM and fire services were pressed into action. Two fire tenders and one fire rescue vehicle attended to it and it has been doused."

The cause of the fire was unknown and investigation was underway, he said.

 KJ Goerge, Karnataka's Minister for Bengaluru Development and Town Planning, announced a Rs 5 lakh compensation to the kin of all those five employees who lost their lives in the fire. 

The incident comes after a fire broke out on the first floor of Shiv Shakti Industrial building in Mumbai’s Lower parel area on Sunday. The fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot and the incident was controlled. No casualties or injuries were reported.
