New Delhi:

Indian skipper Gautam Gambhir on Tuesday slammed former Pakistani cricket team captain Shahid Afridi for his tweet terming terrorists as ‘innocents’ and asking the help of the United Nations (UN) in the Kashmir encounters.

Afridi, on Tuesday morning, tweeted about the encounters which were carried out on Sunday in southern Kashmir valley, in which a total of 13 militants were gunned down by the security forces, and urged the UN to intervene and stop the bloodshed.

Afridi tweeted, “Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self determination & independence. Wonder where is the @UN & other int bodies & why aren't they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?”

To this tweet, Gambhir slammed the former Pakistani skipper and said, Shahid Afridi is, as usual, celebrating a dismissal off a no-ball.”

Gambhir, in response to Afridi’s tweet, tweeted, “Media called me for reaction on @SAfridiOfficial tweet on OUR Kashmir & @UN. What’s there to say? Afridi is only looking for @UN which in his retarded dictionary means “UNDER NINTEEN” his age bracket. Media can relax, @SAfridiOfficial is celebrating a dismissal off a no- ball!!!”

The series of tweets come after Sunday, when 13 militants, including top commanders, were gunned down in massive anti-terror operations launched by Security forces in Anantnag and Shopian districts of south Kashmir.

The whole operation, considered to be one of the deadliest and biggest counter-insurgency attacks, rendered a severe dent to terror groups such as the Hizbul Mujahideen and the Lashkar-e-Taiba. On the other hand, three jawaans of the Indian security forces were martyred in the operations.

Khan tweeted, “Strongly condemn the brutality of Indian  forces against innocent Kashmiris and the killing of unarmed civilians in IOK. The people of Pak stand with the Kashmiris democratic struggle for self determination. The UNSC must act against Indian aggression in IOK.”
