New Delhi:

Gorkha Jan Mukti (GJM) leaders met the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh over the issue of separate state of Gorkhaland on Tuesday.

Five members representing the GJM met the union minister to put in their demands and called for talks to resolve the Gorkhaland issue.

“The meeting was fruitful,” GJM central committee member Swaraj Thapa told reporter after meeting Singh

He added that the GJM has demanded tripartite talks.

“The tripartite meet should involve the Centre, West Bengal government and the GJM,” Thapa said.

The GJM delegation has expressed concern over the conditions in the hill region of West Bengal and have asked the BJP-led Central government to intervene to end the ongoing crisis.

GJM has alleged that the Mamata Banerjee led West Bengal government is using police to suppress the democratic agitation.

Darjeeling and surrounding hills in the state of turmoil for the last 90 days. The GJM is leading the movement and have called for an indefinite strike to press in their demands for a seperate Gorkhaland.
