Punjab by-election: Congress trounces BJP to take back Gurdaspur

Punjab state minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sunday hailed victory of Sunil Jakhar in Gurdaspur Lok Sabha bypoll , saying that the latter’s triumph is the best Diwali gift for future Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

Punjab state minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sunday hailed victory of Sunil Jakhar in Gurdaspur Lok Sabha bypoll , saying that the latter’s triumph is the best Diwali gift for future Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

Jakhar defeated BJP’s Swarn Salaria by margin of 1, 93, 219 votes.

“This is a beautiful Diwali gift, packed with a red ribbon, for our would be party president Rahul Gandhi,” Navjot Sidhu said.

Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh also congratulated Suunil Jakhar for his impressive win.

"Congratulations to @sunilkjakhar ji for his impressive win in Gurdaspur bypoll, it's a victory for @INCPunjab policies & development agenda," Amarinder tweeted.
