Shimla:
A 56-year-old Indian Army colonel was arrested for allegedly raping the daughter of a lieutenant colonel posted at the Army Training COmmand (ARTRAC) on Wednesday in Shimla.
Shimla Superintendent of Police (SP) Soumya Sambasivan confirmed the development. The senior officer denied to disclose the identity of the accused.
The Shimla Police said, “A 21-year-old woman had filed a complaint on Monday. The Indian Army colonel was arrested today after preliminary investigation.”
The police added that an FIR under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered. “Medical examination of the victim has been conducted,” said a senior police officer.
Sambasivan said, “Investigation is in progress. The accused will be produced in the court on Thursday.”
