Honeypreet confesses to inciting August 25 Panchkula violence, says police sources

Honeypreet Insaan, ‘adopted daughter’ of Sacha Sauda Dera chief Gurmeet Singh has confessed her role in inciting Panchkula violence to Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Haryana Police.

A senior police officer of Harayana Police part of the investigating team probing Panchkula violence told News Nation that Honeypreet has confirmed her role in inciting the violence on August 25, the day Gurmeet Singh was convicted for raping two of his followers by CBI Court.

Sources added, “Honeypreet confirmed to the SIT that she made the blueprints of Panchkula violence.”

Haryana Police director general of police (DGP) denied talking anything about the confessions made by Honeypreet to SIT.

Earlier in an interview to media a few hours before the arrest had said, "I'm pained and shocked, how can the world do this to us? We are great patriots and we love India. Truth will prevail and the world will see this."

Priyanka Taneja alias Honeypreet Insaan was arrested by the Haryana police from Zirakpur, around 25 kilometers from Haryana-Punjab capital Chandigarh on Tuesday.

Honeypreet had been evading arrest after Haryana Police mentioned her name in an FIR for inciting violence in Panchkula and adjoining areas on August 25, the day when Gurmeet Singh was convicted for raping two of his followers by the CBI court.

At least 17 people and over 200 persons were injured in the violence. According to reports government and private property worth crores were destroyed.
