In a recent bus accident in Shimla, President Pranab Mukherjee condoled the death of 45 people.

In his message to Himachal Pradesh Governor Acahrya DevVrat, the President asked the state government and other agencies to provide all possible aid to the bereaved families and medical assistance to those injured in the accident.

"I understand number of persons have lost their lives and others are injured. Rescue as well as relief and search operations are currently underway," he said.

Mukherjee conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished speedy recovery to the injured persons.

At least 43 passengers were killed on Wednesday when a private bus plunged into the Tons river in the remote Nerwa area of Shimla district.

The bus was on its way from Vikas nagar in Uttarakhand to Tuni and the accident took place on the Uttarakhand-Himachal border in Himachal territory.
