Three Kashmiri students booked on Saturday for allegedly not standing during national anthem at a cinema hall in Hyderabad.
The students were released on bail on Sunday after spending a night at the police station. The students belonged to Al Habib Engineering College.
Kashmiri students were booked under Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971. The case was registered at the Rajendra Nagar police station under Cyberabad Police Commissionerate.
The three had gone to watch the movie Bareilly ki Barfi at Mantra Mall at Upparpally. There are different version of the story coming from the student.
The students told police that when they entered cinema hall, they found it difficult to sight anything as it was dark inside and due to which they reacted late to the national anthem. The students added that they were prompted by someone behind to stand up which they did afterwards.
As per the students, there was someone behind of them who asked their names and place where they belong. The three told that they suspected the man to be from police and thought that they had informed about the incident.
However, the police refuted the claims of student by saying that several people had complained against the students to the cinema hall manager, who filed a written complaint at 9 pm.
