New Delhi:
Another case of triple talaq has come into limelight. A woman in Hyderabad has claimed that her husband gave her talaq via phone on November 13, within one month of their marriage.
A complaint has been registered by the Hyderabad police regarding the incident.
Earlier this month, a Sanskrit professor at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) gave triple talaq to his wife via WhatsApp. A case was registered by the wife at Civil Lines Police Station in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.
The Supreme Court in August declared the practice of instant triple talaq among Muslims as unconstitutional.
SC referred to abolition of triple talaq in Islamic countries and asked why can't independent India get rid of it. SC held triple talaq unconstitutional and struck it down by 3:2 majority.
