Amul becomes New Zealand cricket team's prime sponsor

Indian dairy giant Amul became New Zealand cricket team’s prime sponsor for the upcoming champions trophy that starts on June 1 in England.

“Amul will be the principal sponsors of the New Zealand cricket team for the upcoming Champions Trophy,” R.S. Sodhi, managing director of Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation announced at a press conference in Kolkata.

Gujarat-based Amul is one of India’s largest dairy company which produces a wide range of dairy products including milk, curd and butter.

New Zealand is in group A of ICC Champions Trophy, 2017 with three other teams - England, Australia and Bangladesh.  Whereas the teams in group B are - Sri Lanka, South Africa, India and Pakistan.

The Blackcaps would sport a new jersey with the Amul logo on its chest during the tournament.

Delighted about the new tie-up, James Wear, the commercial director of New Zealand Cricket, said we were keen on a long-term partnership with Amul.

 “We, on behalf of New Zealand Cricket are very excited. We are looking towards at least a couple of months and hopefully a long term partnership,” Wear said.

Kiwi players Trent Boult, Tim Southee and Colin De Grandhomme were also present during the event.
