Indian Army personnel climb Mt Everest without using supplementary oxygen

The valour of Indian Army is not hidden to anyone, be it fighting enemies on the border or saving lives of people in challenging conditions such as flood, earthquake or any other natural disaster.

This time, a team of four Indian Army personnel creating history has successfully climbed Mt Everest without using oxygen cylinders. This is the first instance when any team has succeeded in climbing the Everest without supplementary oxygen.

“We had formed a team of 10 people with the aim to scale the Everest without using oxygen cylinder, and succeeded in sending four members to the top of the world without oxygen,” PTI quoted Col Vishal Dubey, leader of the Snow Lion Everest Expedition 2017.

Names of the four climbers who reached the World’s highest post are - Kunchok Tenda, Kelshang Dorjee Bhutia, Kalden Panjur and Sonam Phuntsok.

Apart from them, three other Army Jawans, Urgyen Topgye, Ngwang Gelek and Karma Zopa – has also successfully climbed the Mt Everest with the support of supplementary oxygen.

More than 4,000 people have so far climbed the 8848-metre peak, of which only 187 people have done this without oxygen on the individual basis.

The team, which scaled the Everest on May 21 returned to Kathmandu on Friday.
