At least 10 ten people were killed and three others injured after a four-storey building collapsed near the crowded Sarvate bus stand in Indore on Saturday night.

Over two-dozen people are feared trapped in the debris, where a team of police officials along with fire brigade personnel have been carrying out rescue operations since Saturday night.

Two to five people may still be trapped under the rubbles of the building, according to reports.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took to Twitter to express his grief and announced compensation of Rs. 2 lakh for the kin of deceased and Rs 50,000 for injured.

The building, which housed MS Hotel, a lodge-cum-eatery was over 50-years-old and in a shabby condition.

Indore Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Harinarayan Mishra, said that a speeding car rammed into the building on Saturday. Soon after the collision, the building collapsed, leaving ten dead and several others injured.

A large number of police force rushed to the spot to pull out those feared trapped under the rubbles.

Five people have been rescued so far but at least three of them are in critical condition. They are being treated at state-run MY Hospital in Indore.
