Indian Air Force rescued a US citizen, who was held up at Ladakh's Zhingchan in Kashier for nearly three weeks due to an injury during her trekking expedition on Wednesday.
The injured US Citizen was identified as Margaret Allen Stone.
She had set out for trekking in the Ladakh region and was stuck in Zhingchan area, around 75 km from Leh, since early September, an Indian Air Forcee official said.
A statement released by the Indian Air Force said, "Stone's condition had deteriorated during this prolonged period of lack of care. Her condition is critical. The Indian Air Force (IAF) was informed about the situation on September 26 by the Indian government."
Two Indian Air Force helicopters were engaged in the rescue of the US citizen. Air Force with help of local civil administration was able to locate her in the Valley.
The statement said, she was imediately rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
