New Delhi:

A man living in a three-room house in Jharkhand’s steel city Jamshedpur has been slapped with an electricity bill of Rs 38 million by the state electricity board.

Jharkhand State Electricity Board  handed over the non-payment bill notice of Rs 38 million to one KK Guha.

Guha lives in a three-room house in Bagunhatu area of Jamshedpur.

Guha said, “We have received a bill of Rs 38 million. I don’t know how such a huge bill has been slapped on me by the electricity board.”

Talking about daily electricity usage, Guha said, "On maximum, at a time we run three fans, three tube lights and a TV."

Jharkhand State Electric Board last week send Guha the massive electricty bill having receipt number XIP/JSR/014-4676 issued on July 31.
The state electricity board had asked Guha to make the payment by August 28.

Guha’s daughter with help their neighbours lodged a complaint with the electricity board.

On receiving a complaint of the enormous bill slapped to a middle class family the electricity board started a probe.

Officials of the state board said, “In our probe we learnt that a wrong bill was issued to the customer due to wrong meter reading.”

The official added that the department has rectified the mistake and a correct bill of Rs 838 has been issued.
