New Delhi:

Politics in the sensitive Karbi Anglong district of Assam on Saturday changed drastically when people staged a 'nude' protest ahead of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council elections.

Members of 24 tribal unions protested with no clothes on to bring their demands to govt's notice.

Protesters demanded that only Tribals should be allowed to vote in the upcoming elections. They are of the thoughts that allowing non-tribals to vote would affect their interest.

However, police dispersed protesters but the protest has raised alarms in the region as Karbi Anglong, which used to be a separatist majority area and some anti-national powers are still active.

Karbi Anglong is an autonomous district of Assam and will go on council polls in June this year.
