BJP lawmakers, Protem Speaker KG Bopaiah and former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa came under the attack for disrespecting the National Anthem on Saturday.
Congress president Rahul Gandhi fired salvo at the “blind in power” BJP-RSS for disrespecting institutions.
“Did you notice that after the entire exercise in Karnataka Vidhan Sabha, the BJP legislators & speaker chose to leave the house before the national anthem? It shows they can disrespect any institution if in power, both BJP & RSS have disrespected institutions,” Rahul said during a press conference on Saturday.
As soon as Yeddyurappa concluded his emotional speech, the Protem Speaker adjourned the House and all the BJP MLAs, including Yeddyurappa left the house without waiting for the National Anthem.
Marshals rushed to Bopaiah after Congress leaders started raising slogans against him for disrespecting the National Anthem.
The speaker later returned to the chair and stood up till the national anthem played.
