New Delhi:

KJ Singh, a senior journalist from Punjab, and his 92-year-old mother Gurcharan Kaur have allegedly been murdered. Their bodies were found at their Mohali house in Phase 3B2 on Saturday.

The murder came to light around 1 pm when a visitor went inside the house after getting no response at the gate.

Police have set up a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the double murder on the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.

Police sources added that the murderers are believed to be more than one in number.

Kuldeep Chahal, Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police confirmed the double murder adding that the motive was being investigated. Chahal said they are working on various theories and have ruled out theft as the reason behind the murders.

“We have some leads. We will soon arrest the culprits,” he said.
