Kulbhushan Jadhav is safe till final ICJ’s verdict, hints Basit

New Delhi:

Pakistan high commissioner to India Abdul Basit on Sunday said that Pakistan’s domestic law would take priority in Kulbhushan Jadhav case, but added that the nation is abide by the ICJ’s verdict.

His statement could be seen as assurance that Jadhav will be kept safe till Pakistan approaches ICJ for review on the verdict.

According to reports in TOI, Basit asserted that Pakistan is abide by international law and it would abide by the verdict which stayed the death penalty of Kulbhushan Jadhav.

The Pak high commissioner affirmed that no country will compromise with its security and Jadhav is a serving Indian Navy officer, not an ordinary citizen.

Jadhav was arrested on March 3 last year and sentenced to death by the Pakistani military court on charges of espionage and subversive activities.
