New Delhi:

Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Saturday said that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is not part of Janata Dal (United) anymore.

"Nitish Kumar does not belong to JD (U) anymore, it is Sharad Yadav's now. He has gone to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He is bowing before the same Amit Shah whom he used to abuse earlier," Lalu told ANI.

Launching an attack on Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi, Lalu said that the Bhagalpur scam is worth Rs 1,000 crore and everyone will come to know about it when CBI will initiate probe.

Speaking on children’s death in Gorakhpur, Lalu said that it is very sad. He added that it is murder of children.

Earlier in the day, BJP president Amit Shah on Saturday formally invited Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar to join NDA. The development comes a day after Nitish Kumar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.

In a major development, Janata Dal(U) Rajya Sabha members removed Sharad Yadav, who opposed the party’s decision to ally with the BJP in Bihar, as their leader in the House and replaced him with R C P Singh, a senior party leader said.

The MPs met Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu to hand him a letter appointing Singh as the leader of the JD(U) in the upper house, the leader said.
