Gurugram:

A four-year-old leopard was found dead under mysterious circumstances near Raisina forest area in Gurugram on Friday.

Forest officials recovered mutilated body of the leopard from a stretch between Bhango and Kharak villages near the forest.

The big cat suffered injuries in head and mouth, and forest department officials did not rule out any foul play.

"We have sent the body for post-mortem. It sustained injuries in head and face," said forest official Shyam Sunder Kaushik.

The villagers said that they spotted the animal lying in the foothill area of the Aravalli Mountain around 2 pm.

According to official figure, nine leopards have died under mysterious circumstances in Gurugram district and one in Faridabad since January 2014.
