New Delhi:
Massive landslide occurred near Dhalli Tunnel on Chandigarh-Shimla National Highway. As a result, many vehicles are buried under debris. The traffic movement on the highway has been affected.
A video released by news agency ANI shows that a part of the hill fell down on roads taking away many cars which were plying on the road.
Part of a temple also damaged in the landslide that occured near Dhalli Tunnel.
"People who were stuck in houses below were rescued, 2-3 empty cars still under debris from landslide; no casualties," said DSP City, Shimla Police.
Road clearing operation is currently underway at site of landslide on Chandigarh-Shimla National Highway near Dhalli Tunnel.
The Chandigarh-Shimla highway has witnessed many landslides in the past. Construction work on four-laning of the highway is on full swing under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
