Uttar Pradesh Investors' Summit: Defence industrial corridor in UP to generate 2.5 lakh jobs, says PM Modi

New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the two-day 'UP Investors Summit', the first initiative of its kind by the Yogi Adityanath government. President Ram Nath Kovind will attend the valedictory function on the second day.

The summit is aimed at lure business and corporate houses with lucrative investment opportunities and potential across various sectors in Uttar Pradesh.

The mega event is being organised to bring together heads of states and governments, ministers, leaders from the corporate world, senior policy makers, heads of international institutions and academicians from around the world to further the cause of economic development in the state and promote cooperation to pave way for better investments, according to an official statement.

More than 5,000 delegates are scheduled to attend the two-day summit and over 100 speakers will be addressing gatherings. The goal is to create 10 lakh jobs in next five years and to develop under-developed regions. Mauritius, Japan, Netherlands, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Thailand are partner countries.

12.12pm: PM Modi says, “There is no dearth of resources and opportunities in UP where you find ‘lakhnavi chikankari’, ‘Banarsi zardosi’ and brassware of Moradabad and glassware industries of Firozabad.

12.02pm:“We have signed MoUs worth Rs 4.28 lakh crore, which equals our budgetary projections,” the CM said.

11.59am: “We have proposed Bundelkhand and Purvanchal Expressway to give a fillip to the dedicated industrial corridor and facilitate transport,” chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

11.54am: “Our target is to create 40 lakh new job opportunities in UP in the next three years,” says Yogi Adityanath.

11.48am: Mauritius willing to become a partner in UP in promotion of religious tourism and strengthening agriculture, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors: Anerood Jugnauth, former PM of Mauritius.
