West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said that no violence will be tolerated during Durga Puja.

Mamata said that no idol immersion will be done on Muharram. She added that politics should not be done in the name of festivals.

CM also warned saffron brigade to refrain from playing politics in the name of festival. She said that carrying weapons in procession will not be allowed and anybody doing so will be dealt strictly.

It has been seen in recent times that festivals are being celebrated with unprecedented grandeur and with a saffron fervor. The CM suspected hooliganism in the procession.

The festival of Durga Puja is celebrated in Kolkata since old times. It is part of the culture in Kolkata.
