Mohini Ekadashi, observed on the eleventh day during the Shukla Paksha is generally celebrated by Hindu devotees in order to lead a happy and prosperous life ahead.

While observing this ekadashi, people seek divine blessings and need to be open and clear from the bottom of his/her heart.

Observation of this Mohini Ekadashi is mainly known for washing out all the crimes and mistakes committed by a person both in his/her past and present life.

Therefore one should not have some sort of jealousy and negative thoughts for others while celebrating this auspicious festival.

In short, an individual should be free from all kind of negative vibes before celebration.

Mohini is the name given to the disguised form of Lord Vishnu and since the lord appeared in this form on the ekadashi tithi, the day began to be celebrated as 'Mohini Ekadashi'.

People need to go through fast for two days and should take a bath at earlt morning after sunrise.

After taking bath God Vishnu should be worshiped with a heart full of sacramnet and devotism.

Moreover, God Vishnu Should be worshiped along with an ignited lamp, fruits, til and holy basil.

Ekadashi Tithi Begins: 19:44 on 5/May/2017

Ekadashi Tithi Ends: 20:30 on 6/May/2017

Parana Time: 05:39 to 08:18 on 7/May/2017

Dwadashi End Moment on Parana Day: 21:42

Parana means breaking the fast. Ekadashi Parana is done after sunrise on next day of Ekadashi fast. It is necessary to do Parana within Dwadashi Tithi unless Dwadashi is over before sunrise. Not doing Parana within Dwadashi is similar to an offence.

'Mohini Ekadashi' falls in Hindu month of 'Vaisakha' which comes in the month of April.

However, according to Tamil calender it falls during the month of 'Chithirai', in the 'Jyestho' month of the Bengali calendar and in the Malayalam calendar Mohini Ekadashi falls during the month of 'Edava'

Only Northern India and adjoining region people celebrate the Ekadashi in the month of 'Vaisakha'.
