The Congress blaming the Mumbai’s civic body responsible for the collapse of a four-storey building in suburban Ghatkopar in Mumbai killing 17 on Wednesday and said that the both Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who run the Municipal Corporation of Mumbai must be held accounted for the accident.
Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam talking to Shiv Sena said that Shiv Sena worker Sunil Shitap, owner of at least three flats on the ground floor of the collapsed building, should be booked for culpable homicide for the collapse.
He further added that the Shiv Sena and BJP should apologise to the people of Mumbai for the accident which led to killing of 17 innocents.
"The CM is saying that they are going to take action, this is absolutely rubbish,” added Nirupam.
He demanded arrest of officers responsible for the collapse
“Case should be registered for non unintentional murder. All these things are happening due to the misgovernance of BJP and Shiv Sena in BMC," he added.
The Congress leader added that Municipal Corporation is responsible for taking care of the buildings in bad conditions.
Nirupam added, “This building was 40 years old and even after protest of local residents, a leader of Shiv Sena started constructing pillar for the construction of the hospital.”
