New Delhi:

An impudent incident surfaced in Kerala where a female candidate who appeared for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test or NEET was allegedly forced to remove her inner-wear before entering the examination hall.

According to the girl, the female security personnel forced her to remove inner-wear to ensure she had no cheating material. She further alleged that other girls also faced similar harrowing experience due to the strict dress code imposed by the examination authorities.

Following the NEET exam, the girl disclosed the alleged torment she went through to the media personnel. The examination centre officials forced her to remove the innerwear despite her protest, she alleged.

“My daughter went inside the centre, only to return later and hand me her top innerwear”, the girl’s mother said. The family has sought action against the examination centre officials for ‘humiliating’ their child in this manner.

Similar blatant episode was faced by another female candidate at the Kannur exam hall where she was allegedly forced to remove metal button from her jeans, along with a pocket which led her to replace the jeans. Her father, said he had to find a cloth shop nearly 3 kms away from the examination centre to bring her a pant for replacement, according to the reports.

“She was wearing jeans. Since it had pockets and metal buttons, they needed to be removed. I went to a shop about three km away from the exam centre and bought a new dress for her after getting the shop opened”, he was reported as saying.

The girl’s father further revealed that a Muslim family, living close to the examination hall, brought dozens of cloth sets to provide a replacement to those students whose jeans or tops were found to be suspicious by the examination authorities.

“I know of a Muslim family which gave six tops to candidates to wear. Even more shocking was the fact that authorities did not permit anyone to wear full-sleeved top. Those wearing such sleeves had to cut it to make it short-sleeved”, said another harried parent.

Strict action has been demanded by the Congress’ women wing against the authorities who caused such tormenting experience to the female candidates.

“The ordeal is over but it’s debatable how many female candidates would have been able to write the exam properly after they were subjected to so much humiliation”, Mahila Congress president Bindu Krishna said, further assuring that she would raise the matter with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
