In a horrific incident a 35 year old woman died in Naubatpur of Patna after her neighbour had kidnapped on Wednesday. The victim died as a result of a failled rape attempt where he inserted iron rod in the private parts.

The victim was kidnapped on Wednesday night by the accused Deeraj Paswan when she had gone out to answer nature's call. As a result of a failled rape attempt the perpetrator inserted iron rod inher private parts.

The victim was taken to a nearby health centre for primary check up and was referred to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) where she died.

The accused has been arrested by the Naubatpur police, confirmed Naubatpur Station House Officer (SHO) Prem Raj Chauhan.

As per data on rape statistics compiled by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) it is revealed that majority of the rapes are committed by those who are known to the victims.

In 95 per cent of the cases the perpetrator of rape is known to the victim. For example in total number of rapes, neighbours are involved in 27 per cent of the cases whereas the victims own family members are involved in 9 per cent of the cases.

In the year of 2015 alone, out of 1041 reported cases of rape, 283 of them were committed by neighbours and 344 by other known persons. So it is evident from the NCRB data that in most of the rapes are committed by those who are known to the victim.
