New Delhi:

Petrol Pumps owners across the country has announced a day-long strike on October 13 protesting against discrepancies in supply and demand to include petroleum products under Goods and Service Tax (GST).

The day-long strike has been called by United Petroleum Front, an umbrella organisation of all petrol dealers controlling 54,000 petrol pumps across the country.

All India Petroleum Dealers Association (AIPDA), an union of petroleum pump owners have called for indefinite strike from October 27.

Ajay Bansal, AIPD president, “We are calling the strike to bring petroleum products under GST.”

Both the unions have been also demanding an increase in dealer margins.

Congress is also supporting the demands of the two petroleum dealers association to bring petroleum products under GST.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said, Ït will put a brake on the governments levying as high as 70 to 80 percent tax to fill their treasury ignoring the common man plight.
