New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced a financial aid of Rs 1,000 crore to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and said it was a large number of students who built the IT sector in the country.

“The confidence I can see on your face confirms that we are moving in the right direction. IIT Bombay will get a financial aid of Rs 1000 crore. It was a large number of IIT students, who built the IT sector of India, brick by brick,” ANI quoted Modi as saying.

Modi, while addressing the convocation ceremony of IIT- Bombay, praised the IIT graduates saying the success of IITs had led to the creation of engineering colleges across the country.

The prime minister said that IITs have built brand India globally and today IITs are at the forefront of some of the best start-ups in the country.

Modi urged the youngsters at the convocation to make India the most attractive destination for innovation and enterprise and added that the best ideas do not come in government buildings or in fancy offices but from youngsters.

“Innovation is the buzz-word of 21st century. Any society that does not innovate will stagnate. That India, emerging as a hub for start-ups shows the thirst for innovation. We must make India the most attractive destination for innovation and enterprise.”

“This will not happen through government efforts alone. It will happen through youngsters like you. The best ideas do not come in government buildings or in fancy offices. They come in campuses like yours, in the minds of youngsters like you” Modi said.

PM Modi also appealed the youngsters to innovate in India for the development of the society.
