Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended India-Japan Annual Summit on Thursday. PM Modi took the event as an opportunity to invite Japanese companies and people to operate in India.
PM Modi said that Japan can benefit tremendously with size and scale of our potential and skilled hands that India offers.
"My personal engagement with Japan decade old. Wanted to see mini Japan here. That dream has come true. Gujarat’s Industry and Government still cherish the fact that Japan became first partner country in Vibrant Gujarat event," said PM Modi.
PM Modi informed that four locations have been finalised for development of Japanese Industrial Townships in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
Speaking on the project of Varanasi Convention Centre, PM Modi said that it is a symbol of cultural co-operation between Kyoto city of Japan and Varanasi. He added that it will be garland of love of Japan for Varanasi and tribute to shared Buddhist heritage.
"I have been saying that 21st Century is Asia’s Century. Today, Asia has emerged as the new centre of global growth," said PM Modi.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi rode the dream of a high speed bullet train to reach out to people in his home state, saying it would go from “my Gujarat to my Mumbai”.
India’s first bullet train will connect Ahmedabad, the largest city in Gujarat, to Mumbai, cutting travel time from seven hours to less than three.
The project, which was launched here today by Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe in the packed Athletics Stadium, is expected to bring in employment, revenue and even international trade to both the cities.
Addressing the large crowd, Modi made it a point to bring in the flavour of Gujarat, where elections are due in the next few months.
It will not just reduce distance but also bring the people closer. The train will go from my Gujarat to my Mumbai. It will mean less cars on roads, it will mean a cleaner environment and also bring in revenue,” he said.
