New Delhi:

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off a new train from his parliamentary constituency — Varanasi — to his home state Gujarat on Friday.

The Indian Railway has christened the new train Varanasi-Vadodara Mahamana Express.

According to a senior Indian Railway official the train to be flagged of by Modi using a remote control on Friday from Varanasi is the third Mahamana Express.

Another Indian Railway official said the trained has been named to honour Hindu Mahasabha president Madan Mohan Malviya, who is also addressed as Mahamana.

The official added that Varanasi-Vadodara Mahamana Express is a weekly train that will run from Varanasi every Friday at 6.15am and from Vadodara every Wednesday. The train will cover a distance of 1531 kilometers in 55.7km/hr. The new Mahanama Express will travel through four states and halt at Bharuch, Surat, Gujrat, Amalner, Bhusawal, Itarsi, Jabalpur, Katni, Satna and Chheoki.

The Mahanama Express is an indigenous train made at Vadodara-based Hindustan Fibre Glass. The train has 18 coaches including  one AC 1st class, two 2nd class AC, eight sleeper, four general, one pantry car and two guard's brake vans.

The train has modular panels, ergonomically designed ladders from climbing upper berths, platform washbasins, odour control system, exhaust fan, LED lights and controlled discharged water tap.
