New Delhi:

Firing a fresh salvo at Prime Minister Modi, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that PM’s silence on the Rs 11,400 crore PNB bank fraud case gives an indication as to where does his loyalty rest.

Rahul Gandhi in his tweet - a rhyme in colloquial Hindi - said, “First, it was Lalit Modi, Vijay Mallya who ran away and now it is Nirav Modi who fled the country.

“Where is the ‘Chaukidar’ (Watchman) who says ‘na khaunga, na khane dunga’,” he added.

The Congress President also questioned PM Modi’s silence on the PNB bank fraud case and said, “People want to know the secret behind the silence of ‘saheb’ (PM Modi). His silence shouts out loudly that where does his loyalty rest.”

Both Congress and BJP are blaming each other for the country’s biggest banking scam worth over Rs 11,000 crore.

Congress has claimed that PM Modi had hosted one of the key accused Mehul Choksi at his official residence in 2015 and even calls him as “Mehul Bhai”.

The party also alleged that another key accused Nirav Modi was also a part of the delegation that went with PM Modi during his visit to Davos to attend the World Economic Forum summit.

The BJP, however, rubbished all the claims and said the scam happened during UPA’s rule and the Modi govt was cleaning Congress’s mess.
