Pradosh Vrat is being celebrated today across the country. This vrat is a popular Hindu vrat that is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It is also known as Pradosham in South India.
The Pradosha vrat or Pradosham is observed twice in the lunar month as per the Hindu calendar. This fast is observed on the Trayodashi (13th day) of both the Krishna Paksha (Amavasya) and Shukla Paksha (Poornima).
Pradosh Vrat is observed on both Trayodashi Tithis, i.e. Shukla Paksha Trayodashi and Krishna Paksha Trayodashi, in lunar month.

Sunday – Ravi Pradosh Vrat for Longtivity and Good health
Monday – Som Pradosh Vrat for the fulfillment of desires
Tuesday – Bhauma (Mangal) Pradosh Vrat to get relief from diseases and health enhancement
Wednesday – Budh Pradosh Vrat for fulfillment of all desires
Thursday – Guru Pradosh Vrat for suppression and destruction of enemies
Friday – Shukla Pradosh Vrat for Happiness and success of life partner
Saturday – Shani Pradosh Vrat to get blessed with children and to get relief from all disease
Pradhosha Vrata Significance
According to the Shiva Puranas, observing a fast on Pradosham Vratam is regarded as highly auspicious and beneficial. One would be blessed with wealth, children, happiness and honor. While the fast is undertaken by all Shiva devotees, but all women who have been longing for a son specially observe this. Also, praying to Lord Shiva during the course of the fast is said to liberate the devotee from all his previous and present sins and evil deeds committed. According to one legend, Lord Shiva is believed to have drunk the Halahala poison during Pradosham. This poison was mixed with the Ocean of Milk (Samudra Manthan).
