New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has interacted with a mind boggling 25 lakh people in Karnataka through various video interactions on his app, a BJP functionary claimed on Thursday, saying that he is the only leader across the globe to have adopted this unique tool of communication.

Modi on Thursday finished his interaction, which happened on the build-up to the Karnataka assembly polls scheduled for May 12, with interactions with workers of state BJP’s SC, ST, OBC and slum wings.

BJP IT department in-charge Amit Malviya  claimed that Modi via the live video interaction on ‘NaMo’ app created a unique way of electioneering and reached out to 25 lakh people, including party’s candidate, supporters, workers and in the poll-bound state.

With the important Lok Sabha polls coming next year, the PM’s outreach through this app will only increase, he added.

"PM Modi is the first and only global leader to have adopted the unique video interactions through his own app," Malviya claimed.

The mobile app has been the latest addition in the technology tool kit of Modi and he has been utilising it to the maximum in the Karnataka campaign, he said.

The interaction with the leaders of various party wings has helped him reach the last mile worker of the organisation, sending them the message that they can directly interact with the prime minister, he said.

This strategy of engaging with grassroots workers through the app is Modi’s way of enthusing the cadre as well as keeping them informed about the work that the government is doing.

Seen as a unique experiment in politics, such an approach will especially help a cadre-based party like the BJP, he said.
There have been many other such interactions through the NaMo App and given the importance of the next year, this outreach will only increase, he said in a reference to the Lok Sabha polls.

The ‘NaMo’ app has already about 10 million subscribers and the series of interaction have established its potential and power as a powerful messaging tool, Malviya said.
