New Delhi:

Former cricketer Mohammad Kaif on Friday clarified his stand on International Court of Justice’s verdict to stay execution of Kulbhushan Jadhav. Kaif said that he wrote what he felt, we must take pride in being Indians.

"I wrote what I felt, we must take pride in being Indians. Proud to be an Indian, that should be the motto in life," wrote Mohammad Kaif on Twitter.

Earlier on Thursday, Mohammad Kaif found himself in the eye of storm after he expressed his happiness on stay on Kulbhushan Jadhav's death sentence by a Pakistani military court on espionage charges. In a tweet, the former Team India player praised the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in Hague for its decision in favour of Jadhav.

The ICJ has also asked Pakistan to grant India consular access in Kulbhushan Jadhav death penalty case.

"Congratulations India. Thanks to the International Court of Justice, justice has prevailed. #KulbhushanJadhav" Kaif had tweeted on his Twitter handle.

Right after his post, a Twitter user from Pakistan (according to his profile) asked him to remove 'Mohammad' from his name giving it a religious twist.

Taken aback by the abrupt response, Kaif gave him a piece of mind in his own style.

"Wow! If I support India's victory, I should remove Mohammad. I am proud of my name. Aamir means "full of life," you need to get one." Kaif tweeted.

The comment didn't go down well with several Twitteratti who came out in support of the cricketer.
