Railways rolls-out new Humsafar Trains; coaches equipped with better security, toilet features

The Indian railways has rolled-out new racks of Humsafar Trains on the tracks. The new coaches of Humsafar Trains is now equipped with more facilities as compared to earlier so that passengers get all kinds of comfort. The safety features and toilet features have also improved.

The new 3-tier coaches are now added with a lot of facilities as compared to earlier ones. Bogies have better stairs and holdings. Side-lights have been installed at all the berths. Charging points have also increased and that includes USB charger as well.

It has happened for the first time that side lower berths have been added with extra single flat berths. To let mothers take her babies along with her to the toilets, baby pads as well as facilities of urinals have been installed in the toilet.

To improve security on the train, CCTV cameras have been installed with displays so that on-board recording can be accessed in case of any incident.

Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu said that ten Humsafar Trains have already been manufactured at rail factories in Kapurthala and Rae Bareli and it is successfully plying on six different routes. He added that two new Humsafar Train will start plying on Tirupati-Jammu Tawi and Howrah-Vijaywada routes.

The GM of Rae Bareli coach factory said that the new Humsafar Trains have added facilities based on feedback from passengers as compared to already launched Humsafar Trains.  

In the last budget, 11 new Humsafar Trains were announced whereas in the present budget, ten new Humsafar Trains were announced. Railways is committed towards fulfilling the earlier promises. Railways is also under pressure to launch new Humsafar Trains as well.
