CISF nabs note press officer for stealing currency RBI's Bank Note Press in Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi:

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Friday has arrested an official of Bank Note Press (RBI) in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas for allegedly stealing printed notes worth Rs 90 lakh over a period of time.

The arrested RBI Bank Note Press official has been identified as Manohar Verma. He was posted as deputy control officer of Note Verification Section (NVF) of the BNP.

Police said, “Verma used to steal the notes by hiding the money in shoes, clothes and officer drawers.”

CISF has recovered Rs 26 lakh was recovered from his office drawer and another Rs 64 lakh was recovered from his residence, in the denomination of Ra 500 and Rs 200.

According to a Bhopal Police officer, Verma was under the scanner of CISF from the last few days. “On Thursday night he was caught stealing bundles of newly printed notes and rejected notes.”

The officer added that the rejected notes could be easily used in the open market as they were minor defaults.
