Ryan school murder case: CBI detains class XI student for killing Pradyuman, father claims innocence

In a major development, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday detained a class 11 student in connection with the brutal murder of seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur, a class two student who was found dead in pool of blood in Ryan International School, Gurugram. 

According to a CBI sleuth, a class XI student of Ryan International School has been detained in connection to the murder case. He added that he was under the radar of Gurugram police too.

The detained student's father talking to media claimed his son was innocent. "My son was detained on Tuesday night. He was the one to inform the teachers and gardner about the incident."

He also claimed that he and his son were forced to confess the crime by the CBI. "The CBI made me sit for hours and later forced me sign the confession."

The Haryana government on September 23 had handed over the murder case to CBI. The case was handed over to the country’s elite investigative agency after the deceased’s father threatened to move to the Supreme Court on September 22. 

The investigative agency had taken the case from Bhondsi police station in Gurugram where an FIR under IPC sections 302 (murder), 25 of the Arms Act, 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act read with section 34 of IPC was registered.

The body of Pradyuman was found inside the toilet of Ryan International School at Bhondsi, Gurugram on September 8. Postmortem report of the class two student states that the seven-year-old was found with his throat slit, external injury caused by single-edged sharp weapon and death was caused due to “shock and hemorrhage.”

Earlier, the Gurugram Police had arrested one Ashok Kumar, a bus conductor, in charges of the murder. Kumar later had said that he was forced to confess the crime by the school administration.
