New Delhi :

Controversies linked to 'Babas' seems to have no end, as a self-styled godman from Uttar Pradesh's Allahabad named Kushmuni Baba has issued a legal notice to the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, an organisation which has released a list of what it calls 14 "fake babas" and has urged the government to amend new laws against these fake gurus.

The legal notice inculpates the Parishad of 'character assassination' and says if Kushmuni Baba does not get an apt reply, he will go to court.

Along with Kushmuni Baba, the list holds the names of Asaram Bapu and Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, both currently in jail on rape charges.

The list was launched after Dera Sacha Sauda chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim was convicted in two rapes cases of 2002, in which he has been sentenced a cumulative jail term of 20 years.

"There are many fake babas in the society and we are upset because most of these so called babas are being defamed. They are not baba and after thinking on this, we have listed a few who should not be called one," President of the Parishad Narendra Giri said in a statement.
